StoryIn Japan, output power of 2m amateur radio band is restricted as only 50 watts for all amateur radio license class. If we Japanese wanted to be QRV on EME, we must apply a special permission of high power (max. 500 watts) license on 2m only for EME. But there are some big wall. First, there is completion inspection by public officer of Bureau of Telecommunications. Second, we need to calculate the electronics exposure level and achieve the regulation. Japanese high power EME stations overcome these problems and have a license! It is difficult to have a high power EME license EVEN in JA main land, but we decided to try in Ogasawara!! This is a document of applying for the 1st time 2m 500Wattes EME license in Ogasawara.
23 Jul. 2007 JD1BLY asked Kanto Bureau of Telecommunications(PTT) that JD1BLY wants to have 500 Wattes EME license on 2m. 27 Jul. 2007 JD1BLY went to PTT office and met a person in charge. JD1BLY talk over about 2m high power license in Ogasawara, and JD1BLY submitted some application form as instructed by public officer. 25 Aug. 2007 JD1BLY received a Radio station specification change and change permission notification from PTT office. JD1BMP also received at 9 Nov. 2007. Ogasawara We (JD1BLY and JD1BMO)Boarded an ocean liner, Ogasawara-maru, and after 26.5 hours (1 hour delay), we landed on Chichijima. We started setting antennas up and starting operations. I (JD1BLY) checked EME systems and took the data of the RIGs and linear amps. I faxed the data to PTT office on 15 Feb. PTT inspection Two PTT inspectors and JD1BMP boarded on 19th Feb. The inspection was done by two inspectors on 20th Feb., and we finally got High Power licenses for EME! Result
